Term 3

Term 3 has been an extremely busy one for Primary 2b.  We have been learning all about the past through our Castles project and we have even built our very own castle fort.  Everyone was most imaginative and creative when it came to using the medieval figures (I think the knights jousting was the best!).  Our homework was to build a 3D castle and decorate it.  These looked wonderful in corridor.

In maths we have been learning about money.  Our class shop has been very popular as we work out how much we are spending and how much change we need to get back.  We can also now add and subtract tens and units as vertical sums!  Mrs Robertson is very impressed with us all.

We made a beautiful display for Lent after learning about its true meaning.  Having reflected on this we then displayed our Lenten promises for the class to share.

When we are reading aloud to the class, we are thinking about our expression and fluency.  Mrs Robertson says that we are becoming storytellers!

Our visit to Showcase the Street for the Tesco Bank Football was very popular with everyone.  The children had a fantastic afternoon, learning new skills and meeting new people.  Three people have even been chosen to visit Hampden from our class.

Christmas Craft

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The boys and girls have been busying themselves getting all Christmassy in time for the craft afternoon.  They have made table decorations, reindeer food, candy cane reindeers and hanging decorations.

A Visit to Moncur Crescent

We have been planning and preparing for a visit to Moncur Crescent sheltered housing.  Our visit included singing some Christmas songs, reading some poems and giving out Christmas cards which we had made.  The residents thoroughly enjoyed our entertainment and the visit was capped off by a visit from a very jolly man - Santa!

Health Day 2

Primary 2 had a lovely day thinking about our mental health and well being.  Our favourite activity was spending time in the relaxation room - we were lucky to stay awake! The room helped us to relax and be calm.

Maxwell Community Garden

On a visit to Maxwell Community Garden we saw some amazing vegetables and fruit growing – some of us were lucky enough to even try some raspberries.  Yum, yum!  The sunflowers were amazingly tall.  We couldn’t even reach to the top of them!

Under the Sea

Everyone loves our topic of Under the Sea.  We have enjoyed some great stories and are now beginning to even write some of our own!  Mrs Robertson was extremely impressed with our aquariums – we really have captured what it looks like under the sea.  In our science investigation we had to predict which items would float and which would sink – then we tested our theories.  Some of the results surprised us.

Maths

In maths we have been having fun with our number stories and some of our pictures turned out great!  We have also been learning about 2d and 3d shapes.  Some of our pictures turned out really nicely and we were able to talk about the shapes that we had used.

Term 1

What a super busy start to the year Primary 2b have had!  Fred was delighted to see everyone back again after the summer holidays and was ready to listen to the boys and girls.

Judo Taster

Everyone enjoyed the judo taster again this year and some of the class have even gone along to the Judo club in the church hall on Wednesday evening.
